Description - Our 1” interlocking MMA Mats are constructed with a high density EVA foam that comes in two reversible colors, allowing you to use both sides of the tile as your flooring surface. These tiles still feature the same water drop top but are now solid color throughout. Our MMA mats are very shock absorbent and are still water resistant, mold and mildew resistant, and insulating. These properties make these tiles perfect for any basement, child’s playroom, martial arts studio, MMA studio, or anywhere else a solid, shock-absorbing surface is desired. Our interlocking foam tiles are also very easy to clean and feature two removable edge pieces, allowing you to easily create a solid flooring surface. So if you are looking for an easy to install, safe flooring surface that can be easily expanded upon, then our 1” MMA Mats are the tiles for you.
Note: Foam products can be punctured by sharp animal nails, rough use, high heels, and moving furniture. Removeable corner can be a choking hazard.
Material – Closed cell EVA foam rubber.
Size – 2' x 2' and 3' x 3'
Thickness – 1 inch nominal (~25mm)
Weight – 2' x 2' tiles weigh 2.4 Lbs. and 3' x 3' tiles weigh 4.5 Lbs.
Spec Sheet - Printable Spec Sheet.
Recommended Uses – 1” MMA Mats have been used successfully in playrooms for children, in day care centers, in martial arts studios, as yoga and pilates mats, as foam mats for tumbling and other gymnastic related activities, as home gym flooring for gyms that are primarily for aerobics and other cardio related exercises, and any other place where a shock absorbing foam floor tile system would be useful.

  • 1” MMA tiles are in stock and ready to ship via Fedex.
  • All of our soft tile products typically ship the same day or the next business day and deliver within 2-7 business days depending on your location.
  • An email will automatically be sent to you with your tracking information as soon as your interlocking tiles ship and your tracking information becomes available.

  • 1" MMA Mats are very easy to clean and maintain. These foam floor tiles are constructed of durable closed cell EVA foam. This means that no liquids can penetrate the surface of the tiles.
  • If the interlocking foam tiles do get something spilled on them or appear dirty, all that is necessary to clean them is to do a quick wipe of the floor tiles with a damp cloth and your soft tiles will look like new.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Start in one corner of the room with a corner tile and add border tiles outward along the adjacent walls. Add center, corner, and border tiles where you see fit.
  • When coming up to an opposite wall, make sure you cut the tiles to fit the area leaving a gap that’s roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the floor tiles in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

    Q:

Can you use these for wrestling mats? Is it possible to take a shot on these?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats can be used for some wrestling moves. Since these are tiles, there is a potential for them to separate with some moves. A shot will not be move that could be done on these tiles without a high probability of separating. For wrestling, we do offer a wide range of mats that would handle this move and our two most popular mats are our Home Wrestling Mats and our Deluxe Home Wrestling Mats.

    Q:

I live in an upper floor apartment and would like to exercise without bothering my downstairs neighbor. I want to jump rope and do exercises like jumping jacks, etc. The floor is already covered with a thin 1/4" carpet. Can you recommend a product that I can lay over the existing carpet that would eliminate or reduce any noise as to not bother my neighbor below? Thank you.

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats are very shock absorbent, but would not be appropriate for the types of exercises you are wanting to do. For those exercises, we would recommend using one of our rubber mats. The mats that would work the best would be our 1/2" Mega Mats or our 3/4" Extreme Mats. Both will help to absorb the noise created when you are doing your jump training and will also provide you with optimal shock absorbency.

    Q:

My neighbor's kid (2 years old and thin) is constantly running and jumping upstairs. I live downstairs and can't bear with those noises on an everyday basis. Can your MMA mats significantly reduce the noise from that kind of running and jumping? If it does I have to buy some for them.

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats are very thick and shock absorbing and will help to reduce the noise from the upstairs apartment.

    Q:

I'd like to put this floor in a room in my basement, but the room is 14' 1" x 12' 10". Is it possible to cut these tiles to fit and still be able to lock them together properly?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats can be cut easily to fit your room with a sharp utility knife and straight edge. These tiles will still interlock with each other since you are cutting the side(s) that will go along the wall.

    Q:

We'd like to use these first as play mat for baby. Does it slip easily if just placed on carpet? How about on tile- how slippery is it? Once baby outgrows it, husband would like to use for bjj: do the tiles stay together well enough to handle jiu jitsu? Thanks!

    A:

Our 1' MMA mats are very slip resistant over carpet and tile. These tiles will work great as a play mat for your baby and were specifically made for BJJ, jiu-jitsu, and other martial arts. So no need to worry about the tiles coming apart or notwithstanding the intense nature of the workouts.

    Q:

My daughter is in gymnastics. Would this flooring work for practicing her floor routines?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats would work to help your daughter practice her gymnastics. We do offer a wide range of Home Cheer Mats that are better suited for this purpose. You can find these mats on our foam mats page.

    Q:

How well do these work installed on top of carpet? The area I want to use is carpeted and don't really want to pull it up.

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats work well over commercial grade low pile carpet. Over high pile carpet, the tiles may separate a bit which may cause a tripping hazard; This is due to the carpet pad being depressed under the carpet.

    Q:

Hello I want to put these under a putting green I have. I was going to use double sided carpet tape to adhere the green to the tiles. Do you think this might work? I noticed a few reviews stated these are slippery.

    A:

You can adhere putting green turf to our 1" MMA Mats with double sided tape. Our double sided tape is very strong and would bind tightly.

    Q:

I’m interested in the 1” MMA mats for my fitness room. I do a variety of exercises (mostly fitness videos) including plyometrics (lots of jumping), aerobics, calisthenics (jumping jacks, etc.), yoga, weight lifting, pilates, etc. Are these appropriate for that?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats are ideal for high impact workouts but are not the best for certain side-to-side movements. If you do these types of exercises on these tiles, we recommend using double sided tape to keep the tiles together. The tape would go under the tiles and keep the tiles from separating.

    Q:

I am using this for an indoor gym for preschool aged children. Do you have any stats or certifications regarding fall height?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats are not fall height rated. They do help to cushion falls but are not tested to the standards needed for fall height certification.

    A:

You can use our 5900 Series adhesive to glue our 1" MMA Mats to a wooden floor or any pressure sensitive adhesive.

    Q:

If I purchase enough to make a 9'10" square, do they automatically ship with the correct assortment of beveled edges and corners to trim all of the edges?

    A:

When you order our 1" MMA Mats, each tile will come with removable edge pieces. These attached edge pieces are not beveled. For the beveled corners and borders, you will need to purchase them separately. If you need assistance purchasing these, please feel free to contact one of our Flooring Heroes via phone, chat or email.

    Q:

I have to store these mats in an attic that can reach 120F+ during a remodel. Will the heat damage or melt them?

    A:

    Q:

Are the MMA mats ok for bare feet? Which would be better, the MMA mats or the Tatami mats? I do martial arts with bare feet, frequently sliding, pivoting, etc. Which would be best for bare feet? Thank you!

    A:

It is ok to have bare feet on our MMA Mats. A lot of our customers like the texture of the Tatami Tiles versus the MMA mats due to fact that the pattern minimizes rug burns. But other than that, they are both equally great with bare feet.

    Q:

I'm looking for a mat that I can block knitting projects on. This would involve pinning and stretching a damp sweater on to a mat to shape it. There are smaller, but similar, foam interlocking mats sold in knitting stores, so I thought this would be a great larger alternative that would also disassemble for easy storage after use. Anyone know if your mats are the same material as the ones sold in knitting stores?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats can be used as a block for knitting products and has been successfully by many of our customers.

    Q:

Are these a good choice for a home gym that will be used for cardio equipment, light weights, yoga, and aerobics?

    A:

Our 1" MMA Mats can be used in your home gym under equipment, for light weights, yoga, and aerobics. Under the equipment, you may see some indentations. These can be mitigated by the use of our furniture sliders. For some aerobic exercises, you may get some movement. To help reduce this, we recommend the use of some double sided tape.

    Q:

What kind of cleaning products are recommended for this?

    A:

We recommend using a mild soap and water solution for stuck on stains with a rag or synthetic mop and a broom for any large debris.

Slippery coating
3/5 1" MMA Mats
Anonymous from Long Island, NY
The tiles seem to be coated with some type of coating that makes them very slippery. The coating also seems to remain on the floor beneath the tiles after the tiles are removed, and has been tracked by foot to other floors in the house, making them slippery as well.

Great for workouts!
5/5 1" MMA Mats
SS from Indiana
I bought some of these tiles to place in our unfinished basement to have a softer place than concrete for workouts. My husband and I have been doing T25 (a beachbody workout) on them. These tiles are great for this use. I actually am doing the workouts barefoot to build my feet and leg muscles. They are great at absorbing the shock from jumping. My only complete is that I have created little gnashes in the tile from my sports bra zipper just from doing a superman exercise. If we weren't moving soon, I'd probably want to put these all over our whole basement.

mats for fitness studio
4/5 1" MMA Mats
Liz from Portland, ME
I purchased these foam tiles to put on the floor in my fitness studio. The studio is located right above a spa (lesson learned-spa goes above fitness studio...) and I needed to muffle some of the sound made in our higher impact classes. I needed mats that I could take up between classes, that weren't too much of a hassle to take up and put down, and absorbed the noise from jumping. These do the trick pretty well (not 100%, it only really works when students know how to land softly). Of all of the removable padding these were the best value, but were still pretty pricey which is why I only gave a 4 out of 5.

Not the usual use!
4/5 1" MMA Mats
Anonymous from Oklahoma
I purchased this product after getting a quote on reupholstering my boat. Since its primarily just me, I didn't want to spend that kind of money so I started looking for something like this and since the price was right, I purchased a box to try it out. It worked almost perfectly after I cut 2 of the squares to make the seat for the center console. My only issue was the same as alot of other reviews have pointed out, the coating on them made glueing 2 together a challenge. Other than that, outstanding results!!

Very Very Happy!
5/5 1" MMA Mats
Jennifer E. from Fort Wayne, IN
Blocking board made from the interlocking 1" jumbo foam tiles. Holds pins perfectly, can be propped up out of the way against a wall without too much sagging. Stores just as easily. Would have wished for the tiles to come in 1' x 1' sections but all in all Very very happy with my purchase and thank you sooo much dustin for all the help and the odd questions I've had to ask to find just the right material for the job. Keep up the great work and customer service!!!

Knitting Blocking Board
5/5 1" MMA Mats
Jennifer from Fort Wayne, Indiana
These tiles are great even if I am using them for an unconventional purpose. Holds pins easily for wet blocking a finished yarn crafting project and can handle a lot of tension before tearing. Can be propped up against a wall to be out of the way while drying and easy to tear down and store. Water proof and textured so project dries just as quickly as on conventional blocking boards. Interlock the tiles in any order to accommodate those odd shaped projects. I purchased 9 tiles so I can make any size i need from using one tile for a sweater piece to all 9 for a large blanket. Extremely happy with this product!

We bought this for the kid's bedroom which has cement floors. It is great, just cushiony enough to walk on and if they accidentally fall out of bed it doesn't hurt. We shopped around and found the price was also great not too expensive.

Material is good but slips on the floor
2/5 1" MMA Mats
Anonymous from New York
I like the material, thickness and consistency of the product, which I bought to protect my knees while doing jump training / plyometrics. But the mat slips when I run or jump, causing instability for my legs when I land. This actually creates more risk of injury. I have to put heavy weights down on each end of the mat to minimize the slipping, but even this is not enough.
