Description - New and improved, our interlocking Impact Rubber Tiles are still the ideal non-slip rubber floor for any home gym. Constructed using an innovative production process, these foam rubber tiles combine the best of both worlds. The rubber top is very durable and slip-resistant while the foam base is soundproof, water-resistant, and insulating. This combination of benefits makes these interlocking tiles the perfect floor for high-impact exercises like plyometrics and jump training. Featuring a more consistent rubber top, a more shock-absorbent foam base, and a light overall tile weight, make these the perfect flooring option for any room in your home or business.
Material – Recycled rubber top layer bonded to a closed cell EVA foam rubber base.
Size – 2' x 2'
Thickness – Approximately 3/8" (9mm) and 3/4" (18mm).
Weight – Our 3/8" tile weighs 3 Lbs. Our 3/4" tile weighs approximately 4 Lbs.
Spec Sheet - Printable Spec Sheet.
Recommended Uses – High impact foam rubber tiles have been used successfully as interlocking home gym mats, as inexpensive trade show flooring, in schools, churches, and daycare centers for kid’s playmats, and in a variety of other locations where a foam matting with a rubber top surface would be useful to provide cushioning and traction underfoot.

  • Impact rubber tiles are simple to clean and maintain. These foam floor tiles are constructed of durable closed-cell foam and have a recycled rubber surface bonded to the top surface. This means liquids cannot penetrate the surface foam rubber mats.
  • If the interlocking foam rubber tiles do get something spilled on them or appear dirty, all that is required to clean them is to do a quick wipe of the interlocking floor tiles with a damp cloth and your impact rubber tiles will look like new.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Start in one corner of the room with a corner tile and add border tiles outward along the adjacent walls. Add center, corner, and border tiles where you see fit.
  • When coming up to an opposite wall, make sure you cut the tiles to fit the area leaving a gap that’s roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the floor tiles in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

How effective would this be in protecting concrete when weight would be dropped from overhead?
Anonymous
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber tiles are one of our most effective tiles to use when dropping weight. These tiles are extra thick and feature both foam and rubber for added shock absorption and durability.
How big is each square piece?
Janet
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles are 2' x 2' in size.
I recently received my order of these tiles and they have a bad smell, is this permanent?
Mike
Our Impact Rubber Tiles are made with rubber with foam bonded to them. Often the smell of new rubber is strong but will fade fairly quickly with time. To speed up this process you can clean the surface with a mild soap and water and let dry. You may need to do this a few times to eliminate the smell completely.
Given the rubber top and the lower foam have 2 different material properties, including expansion/contraction, how does the adhesion stand up to time? Won't they separate?
Matt
We use a high-density closed-cell EVA foam to construct our Impact Rubber Tiles. This foam is highly moisture resistant, which prevents expansion and contraction. This type of foam allows the rubber top to adhere securely to the foam without falling apart. We have customers who have used these tiles for years without having the layers separate.
Is this flooring appropriate for a combination of floor exercise and cardio equipment? I have an elliptical machine, a stepper, a lateral trainer and rower. I see that the floor is not recommended for heavy weights, but what about heavy machines? Will the floor be stable and not get damaged?
Michael W
You can install heavy equipment over our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles. The only thing that you may notice is that where you place the equipment, that there will be indentations that will not go away. To help minimize this, we recommend using furniture sliders under the equipment.
Would these work as a soft area along the outside edge of a bathroom shower stall?
Wayne
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles would work as a soft area along the outside of a bathroom shower stall. These tiles feature the best of both worlds. The rubber top helps to make the floor more slip resistant when wet and the foam underneath gives you added comfort underfoot.
Can these be used outdoors?
Javier
These tiles are not recommended for use outdoors.
Can you use these for olympic weightlifting, specifically dropping the weight from overhead?
Anonymous
You can use our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles in an area where Olympic weightlifting will be done. These tiles are the best of both worlds featuring both rubber and high-density foam. So you get the durability of rubber with the shock absorption of foam.
I'm looking to put these mats over part of a vinyl floor for a home gym room, but I'm concerned about them sliding when working out. Do they have a no slip bottom?
Anonymous
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles don't have a no-slip bottom. For most uses, these tiles will not slip underfoot, but if for some reason the tiles do start to move, we recommend using some double-sided tape under them.
Are these tiles good for plyometric workouts like P90X and Insanity or do you offer a better product for this type of activity?
Graham
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles are great for plyometric workouts like P90X and Insanity. These tiles feature the best of both worlds with the shock absorption of foam and the durability of rubber. These tiles are very easy to install and just as easy to clean and maintain.
Would this product be good for floor exercises and stretching? I want it to be soft on the knees and joints.
Bryan
You can perform floor exercises and stretching on our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles. These tiles would be soft on the knees and joints compared to other hard surfaces like concrete, wood, and the like.
I would like to use these on a finished basement floor which is a workout and family room. Some of the foam products say "Foam products can be punctured by sharp animal nails, rough use, high heels, and moving furniture." Would these tiles be able to handle those sorts of things without puncturing?
Brian
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles are our top of the line foam/rubber tiles and feature a rubber top over a foam base. This rubber top helps to prevent puncturing from animal nails, rough uses, high heels and the like, while the foam base helps to give you, added shock absorption and bounce.
Can these be installed over a low pile carpet in the basement?
James
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles can be installed over low pile commercial carpet in a basement. These interlocking tiles are perfect as a basement floor. They help to insulate from the cold and are mold and mildew resistant. Also, if your basement were to become flooded, all you would have to do is pick up the tiles, clean them and allow them to dry. Once dry you can reinstall them. Thes tiles when installing over plush carpet may become separated as the pad under the carpet become depressed. Other than that these tiles are perfect over any hard, flat flooring surface.
Can this be installed over an electric heated floor system?
Katie
You can install our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles over an electric floor heating system. Since these tiles are non-porous, you will not get the full benefits of the floor heating system once the tiles are installed.
Can these rubber tiles be put in a garage where cars will be coming and going?
Anonymous
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles would not be recommended for use in a garage where cars would be coming and going. These tiles are a foam tile with a rubber top and would not be able to withstand the constant coming and going of a car on a daily basis.
I am building a home gym {about 400 sq ft) Planning on putting a stepper and all in one machine along with a couple of treadmills. Will this hold up to this equipment? My wife and I like the thicker tile because it is softer to walk on.
You can place fitness equipment over our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles. These tiles are a combination of foam and rubber, so there is potential for the fitness equipment to indent the tiles. Depending on how long the equipment is on the flooring, this indentation may become permanent. To prevent this, we recommend placing furniture sliders under the equipment.
Can these tiles be installed in a home kitchen?
Bradley Stalding
Our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles can be installed as flooring in a home kitchen. These tiles have a rubber top that is slip resistant even when wet and are very easy to clean and maintain. These tiles have a foam backing for added comfort underfoot. This foam padding also helps to make the tiles non-porous which is great when spills happen. Now you won't have to worry about messes getting under the tiles.
Can I put workout equipment such as a treadmill and elliptical on these tiles without damage?
Valerie
You can place fitness equipment over our Soft Rubber Tiles without the flooring getting damaged. Even those these tiles have a rubber top, they still can indent a bit when equipment is placed over them. To help prevent this, we recommend placing furniture sliders under the feet of the equipment.
I will be installing this in a basement with a concrete floor to make it easier on the back walking around. The basement has a complete living space in it with bedroom, bath, and kitchen. Will this hold up to people traffic and furniture legs.
Ray Werts
Our Soft Rubber Tiles were designed to be used in home gyms, so these tiles would be fine with foot traffic and furniture legs. Since these tiles have a foam backing, we do recommend placing furniture sliders under the legs to prevent indentations in your flooring. Other than that, these tiles would be a great floor to help provide comfort underfoot while providing ample durability.
Can these be used to dribble a basketball on? Looking for something to protect the floor and help soundproof indoor dribbling.
Kathy
Yes, you can dribble a basketball on top of our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles and the 3/8" version.
Is it easy to sweep on the 3/4 Impact Rubber Tiles?
Sam
You can easily sweep our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles with a broom or a brushless vacuum.
How firm are these tiles? How do they compare to the complete rubber tiles cushion-wise? I'm concerned they will have too much "give" for weightlifting and be a little too soft. I want something that's nice and firm with just a small amount of cushion for joint comfort.
The foam used to construct our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles is high-density foam. This foam is denser than our standard foam tiles providing support and cushion at the same time. These tiles are some of the best gym flooring options for anyone looking for a durable, high-impact floor for their home or commercial gym.
The second-floor unit is being rented to a tenant that conducts Zumba classes. When the classes start, it shakes the building and windows. It almost feels like an earthquake. It makes it unbearable for the tenant below her. What flooring do you recommend for this kind of problem? Would your most high impact flooring be a good solution?
Connie
Our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles are a great solution to reduce impact noise from one floor to the other but aren't the best flooring option for a person conducting Zumba classes. These tiles don't have the right amount of slip to ensure a person doesn't hurt themself when they are doing some of the dance moves. We would recommend using our Impact Rolls - Wood Series, our one of our dance floors with subfloor packages to help with the sound transference.
I'm just checking on the safety of these tiles before we buy them. It says they're made out of recycled rubber. Does that include old tires? Thank you!
Christine
Our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles are very safe and are tested on a regular basis to ensure they are safe. These tiles feature a recycled rubber top that is backed by a high-density EVA foam. The black part of the rubber is made from recycled tires, and the grey or blue flec is made from EPDM.
Hi, I'm just wondering how badly these tiles smell? I don't think I could have pure rubber tiles because I'm sensitive to smells. I thought this might be a compromise. The tough shell of rubber with the less smelly foam.
Jory Matson
Since our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles combine both rubber and foam, the smell with these tiles compared to standard rubber tiles is minimal. If you are sensitive, you may smell a slight rubber smell. To help mitigate this, we recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution with a synthetic mop head. You will also want to make sure that your space has plenty of ventilation. This process may have to be performed a few times if you are super sensitive.
Can you please confirm if the rubber top is kid safe?
The rubber top on our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles is very safe. If you would like testing for our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles, please feel free to reach out to one of our Flooring Heroes via phone, email, or chat.
Can you put a weight bench in this mat or is it too soft?
Craig Anderson
Our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles are great for exercise rooms and could be used under a weight bench. Because the bulk of the tile is made from high density foam, the weight bench may cause the tile to indent. To make sure the equipment stays stable on the tile we suggest using a furniture slider or some other surface to help distribute the weight. These tiles will absolutely help absorb any noise from the bench from vibrating through any floor as well.
Are there any transition reducer options that match the interlocking pattern of your 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles? Or any 3/4" transition reducers or non-ADA 3/4" edge ramps in general?
ERH
Unfortunately we do not currently have a ramp for 3/4" transition ramp.
Do the 3/4” Impact Rubber Tiles have an odor?
Jacqueline
Our Impact Rubber Tiles have very minimal odor. All fresh rubber products have that rubbery smell and these are no exception. However that smell will fade quickly. We do not use harsh chemical products to adhere our rubber to the foam and we only use non-toxic materials.
are beveled edge pieces available for these 3/4" high impact tiles
Dave McCartney
Currently we do not offer beveled edges for our Impact Rubber Tiles.
Do these tiles come with the outer border to snap in for a finished edge? Thank you.
Christy
Yes, Impact Rubber Tiles come with two edge pieces for every tile so that you can create a nice finished edge on your mat configuration.
I bought 3/4 impact rubber tiles last May. I was wanting to purchase more, but I only see the black and blue available. I need the gray and black! Will you ever have them again?
Amy Nieto
Yes! Our Impact Tiles have been incredibly popular and we are temporarily sold out. We will have more available soon!
How big is each square piece if detachable edge pieces are included?
If you were to attach edges to opposing sides of a single tile it would measure 25" across.
I am a massage therapist, which means I'm on my feet a lot. Would these be ideal for my massage room? I'm wanting something that is comfortable to stand on for long periods and easy to clean.
Ally
These tiles wouldn't be as close to an anti-fatigue mat as our 1" MMA tiles. Anti-fatigue mats are the most common foam floor product found in massage rooms, however our MMA tiles are very thick and have enough cushion and spring that they are a very good substitute. Impact Rubber Tiles do not have the same level of absorbency, as they are made more for workout spaces where friction is needed.
Do i have to order the edging strips separately from the square tiles?
Philip
Each Impact Rubber Tile comes with two pieces of edging.
Will these work on uneven floors? Previous owner installed 12x12 stone tiles, the tiles themselves have an uneven texture but also the flooring is not flat and there are lips between some of the tiles. Do we need to remove tiles first or can we lay the rubber tiles on top? and will it be even?
Natasha
There are a variety of ways to install these tiles on uneven surfaces, but it also depends on how uneven the flooring is. You can tape the interlocking seams together with black tape if the floor is too uneven, or if there is a trouble area you can always shave down the underside of the tile to fit to the subfloor.
I am looking to build a home gym. I currently have a Peloton Bike. Will the bike cause an indent on the 3/4 mat. Also is this mat recommended for 12lb ball slams?
Philip
Large equipment like a Peloton may cause an indent in the foam that is below the rubber. The longer the bike sits on top, the more the EVA foam will hold the indent. You can definitely use these mats for 12lb ball slams.
Should you use a tape or a joint tape on the underside for these tiles?
BJ Knight
If you are doing extremely kinetic workouts and you are experiencing a shift in the tiles, or that they are for some reason becoming unlocked, we suggest using our Mat Tape underneath to add support to the interlocking tiles.
Are these tiles suitable for use in a basement over concrete? Would an underlayment be necessary to ensure no mildew?
Erin
Yes, that would be suitable. You can install a moisture barrier between the rubber tiles and your concrete to mitigate mildew.
For a large quantity of these tiles, do you offer transport or storage carts? If so, how much do they cost, and how many tiles does it hold?
We do sell a transport cart that can be used to transport a large number of our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles. The weight limit on the cart is 990 pounds. Easy Transport Cart.
What R-value is this? Can this be installed directly onto a basement concrete floor?
Our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles can be installed directly over a concrete floor in a basement, or any hard flat surface on any floor in your home or business. The R-value for closed-cell EVA foam is between 6.5-7 per inch.
Can I lay down some rubber side up and others foam side up based on the area? Do these interlock then?
Prasanna V Raman
If you were to install our 3/4" Impact Rubber Tiles upside down or right side up, you wouldn't be able to mix the two install styles. If you flip the tile over, you will be able to install all the tiles upside down now problem, but you can't mix in any right side up tiles. This would also be the same for the right-side-up tiles.
Can I put a squat rack over this flooring?
Baron Quan
You can place a squat rack over our 3/4" Soft Rubber Tiles. The only thing you may notice is that where you put the squat rack, there will be indentations that will not go away. To help minimize this, we recommend using furniture sliders under the equipment.
How thick is the rubber top? How easy is it to rub off the Eva underneath?
Matt
We use high-quality rubber on our Impact Rubber Tiles. It is approximately 2mm thick and should not separate from the EVA foam underneath.
For the 3/4" impact rubber tiles, do you have beveled transition edges for the exposed side to make the edges less of a trip hazard?
Dave
Our impact Rubber Tiles do not currently have a matching beveled transition edge.
Can the tiles be cleaned with wet mop with cleaning chemical like swifter?
Christian Rosenfeld
Yes, Our Impact Rubber Tiles can be cleaned with most mild soaps.
Would these tiles hold up well as a dance mat for home use (Jazz, Hip-Hop) over concrete?
Richard Bagley
Our Impact Rubber Tiles aren't the best flooring option for a person looking to do Jazz or Hip-Hop dancing. These tiles don't have the right amount of slip to ensure a person doesn't hurt themselves when doing some dance moves. We would recommend using our Wood Dance Rolls (https://www.flooringinc.com/vinyl-roll/wood-dance-rolls.html) as they are specifically designed for dancing.
Are edge pieces included in the order or must they be ordered separately?
Tim
Yes, Impact Rubber Tiles come with two edge pieces for every tile so that you can create a nice finished edge on your mat configuration.
can you customize the size of the rubber tiles. I need flooring to be 10' X11'9"
Richard Wehrle
While our Impact Rubber Tiles are provided in standard sizes, you have the flexibility to tailor them to fit any space. With a sharp knife, you can easily cut through the rubber and foam, ensuring a seamless fit for your desired dimensions.

Perfect combination of Rubber and Foam
Self-installed in Home Gym
Chris Hall from Green Forest, AR wrote...
I was looking for a way to protect the laminate flooring in my gym room (converted guest bedroom). I needed something that could handle the weight of a Bowflex without getting torn up when I moved it, but was looking for a bit of cushioning as well. These tiles fit the bill perfectly. The top layer of rubber provides a solid surface to prevent scuffing and tearing of the foam, while the foam layer makes it softer underfoot. I have had no issues with it since installing, and installation was easy: even cutting out a section of a tile for the floor air register only took a utility knife and straight-edge (and a good bit of cutting force, but I'd consider that a good thing - who wants their flooring tiles to cut easily?)

  Best customer service
Self-installed in Covered deck as a gym area.
Harris Miller from Oakland, CA wrote...
This isn't a review of the product, which is great too, but of the incredible customer service this company offers. The staff is very well trained, know their products and generally are the most helpful company I have ever utilized. They sent me samples of three products so I could see and feel them before I purchased. Delivery was swift and the order fulfillment was perfect. This was my second purchase from them.

  Awesome for high impact workouts!
Verified Purchase
Self-installed in Basement
Lisa T. from Bellows Falls, Vt wrote...
I put this floor in my basement because that is my workout space and it is finished with a laminate floor over cement. I like to do a lot of high impact workouts and the cement floor was tough on my knee joints especially. Now I can be obsessed with my workouts and do two in a row when I have the energy and time and not be in pain when I'm finished. The thin layer of rubber over the foam is tough enough to toss my weights down while working out and doesn't leave dents in the surface. It was so easy to put together and looks great! I love that it can be disassembled and taken with you easily and not too heavy. Love it!!
